At Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, we are proud of the high-quality maternity care we offer families at all stages of pregnancy, birth and caring for a new baby.
We support over 4,000 women and birthing people a year, providing maternity services at:
- Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital,
- Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester,
- Andover War Memorial Hospital,
- And in the community.
Our services
As well as expert midwifery-led care, we also provide an
excellent obstetric model of care which includes specialist support for more complex pregnancies and health conditions. We have neonatal unit facilities on both main hospital sites and work closely with other hospitals across the region to access additional specialist services, such as fetal and maternal medicine.
Our maternity services are led by our Director of Midwifery, Wendy Randall and our Clinical Director Renee Behrens, and teamwork is extremely important at Hampshire Hospitals. In our maternity division, staff from many disciplines and specialities work together to plan and deliver care tailored to your individual needs.
On this site you can find out more about the maternity care we offer at Hampshire Hospitals and your options for where to give birth. You can also find out more general advice about pregnancy, birth and caring for your baby on the Healthier Together website. Having your baby with us
If you would like to have your baby with us, please complete the online pregnancy registration form which will notify our team, so we can be in contact to make your first midwife appointment. This link will open up on a site called Badger Notes. We are so pleased you are considering having your maternity care with us and look forward to supporting you and your baby during this unique and exciting time.
Hearing the views of parents and our service users
We have an active Maternity Neonatal Voices Partnership (MNVP) that ensures we hear the views of the parents who use Hampshire Hospitals. Anyone using our maternity services is welcome to enquire and join the group to help shape the future of our services and help us continue to be even better for future parents. You can find out more about the MNVP and getting involved here.
Your safety is very important to us, and we are pleased to confirm that in 2025 we have again achieved all 10 of the core safety actions in the NHS Maternity Incentive Scheme (MIS) designed to improve the quality of care for women, families and newborns. These actions ensure high rates of staff training, openly sharing pregnancy and birth data and reporting poor outcomes to the Maternity and Newborn Safety Investigations team for independent review. Information on the maternity incentive scheme can be found here.
On our wards, we work hard to ensure you and your baby are safe. We have locked doors with video and swipe card access at the entrance to each ward so we can monitor who is coming onto and leaving the wards. Please don’t hold the door to allow anyone to follow you into a ward area.
All members of staff should be wearing a clearly visible trust identification badge which allows them to gain access to relevant areas of the hospital. Everyone else should use the buzzer system and gain access by speaking to a member of staff.
