Our ambition
Grounded in our iCARE values, we will create an inclusive and supportive workplace where everyone feels they belong, can be themselves and has the opportunity to thrive. We will embrace the diversity of our workforce and ensure staff feel valued, supported and connected to the difference they make.
We will build a future-ready workforce with the skills, tools and training needed to deliver safe, compassionate and high-quality care. Modern digital tools will simplify everyday tasks, improve access to information, support better decision-making and reduce duplication.
By 2031, we will have the people, skills and support needed to deliver modern, high-quality care that fits around people's lives. We will reduce vacancies and reliance on temporary staffing, support staff to confidently use digital technology, and create more time for patient care and improved outcomes.
Measuring our success
We will measure our success through the experience of our people and our ability to attract, retain and develop a thriving workforce. This includes staff engagement, the extent to which colleagues would recommend Hampshire Hospitals as a place to work, improvements in equality and inclusion, and how consistently we meet the NHS People Promise standards. The full set of measures associated with this ambition can be found here.
Objective 4: We will develop a flexible, sustainable, professional workforce
By 2031, Hampshire Hospitals will be a place where people can, and want to, develop, progress and build rewarding careers. Staff will be supported to work flexibly, grow their skills and contribute to high-quality care through multidisciplinary teams aligned to the needs of our communities. With the right people, skills and ways of working in place, we will be able to deliver outstanding care now and in the future.

Objective 5: We will build a digitally confident workforce to enable excellent care
By 2031, staff will have the tools, information and confidence to work in new and innovative ways, spending less time on administration and more time caring for patients. Information will be shared securely across services, helping teams work together seamlessly and making care more connected and responsive. As a result, patients will find it easier to access support, including through digital services where these improve convenience and experience.

-
Empowering our teams to work alongside patients, carers and communities to design digital services, creating solutions that are safe, inclusive, accessible and centred on the needs of the people who use them.
-
Enabling secure information sharing between teams, services and partner organisations, including community and mental health services, creating more joined-up care, smoother patient journeys and reducing the need for people to repeat their story.
Objective 6: We will foster an empowering and inclusive culture of learning and improvement
By 2031, Hampshire Hospitals will have a culture where staff feel trusted, empowered and supported to deliver their best. Continuous improvement, learning, research and innovation will be part of everyday practice, with staff actively shaping how services develop.
