Hampshire Hospitals is a large acute foundation trust operating from three main
hospital sites in Andover, Basingstoke and Winchester.

We provide hospital care for people living across Mid and North Hampshire, whether they need urgent treatment – such as emergency care, surgery, or help with a sudden illness or injury – or specialist care after a GP referral, like cardiology appointments, maternity services, or planned operations. We also provide some services in the community, as well as end of life and palliative services from our hospices.

We are proud of our specialist services, which are research-led and shaped by clinical expertise, innovation and a commitment to helping patients achieve the best possible outcomes. We have a national reputation for specialist cancer services, including complex liver and colorectal cancer surgery and the treatment of rare cancers such as pseudomyxoma peritonei, with patients referred from across the United Kingdom. Hampshire Hospitals is also home to a specialist regional haemophilia service, providing expert care for people with inherited bleeding disorders.

Building on a long history of innovation, including the use of advanced surgical techniques and dedicated facilities to improve access to planned care, we continue to play a leading role in providing specialist services for the people we serve.
As one of the largest employers in Mid and North Hampshire, our trust employs more than 8,000 dedicated staff working across our hospitals and in community settings. Together, they deliver more than 1.4 million patient contacts each year. Many of our patients are also our colleagues, or the family and friends of people who work here.

Remaining within the national New Hospital Programme provides an important long-term opportunity, but we will not wait for a new hospital to transform care. By investing wisely in our existing infrastructure and planning for how healthcare needs will evolve over the coming decades, we can ensure the care we provide is fit for purpose for years to come. The learning, evidence and feedback gathered throughout the programme, including the 2024 NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight public consultation, has helped to shape our strategic direction and priorities.
